Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
A second view of Kilimanjaro at sunrise focused on the peak and surrounding snow at dawn. It is always cold at the top of this mountain despite being on the equator because it is so high. You can make out the flags of prior expeditionists reaching the peak. I love this mountain and is close to home for me and I wanted to portray it in many different lights
As a child, in my home country of Kenya, I used to create watercolor birthday and holiday cards for friends and family using ordinary student watercolors and paper. Many of these materials I sourced from the student bookshop that had the simplest of art materials. I enjoyed creating those cards immensely (and I still do to this day! - I include a thank you card with every painting I sell). I further buttressed this experience by visiting and borrowing just about every art history volume from the British Council library in Nairobi. I was struck by the incredible realism of Constable’s works, the chiaroscuro of Rembrandt and the watercolors of Sargent.
